For the 'Interieur' furniture fair in Kortrijk, Belgium, Panton designed the "Hay Stack" room in 1978. Among the bales of straw, which formed not only the floor and walls of the room but also its fixtures, he placed lamps, plants, a TV, a hi-fi and various works of art as if in a normal living room. An ironic commentary on the impending ecology trend?
